General Information for Transfer Students

Over the years, many transfer and non-traditional students have successfully completed engineering studies after initially completed pre-engineering study programs at other institutions. Recognizing that transfer and non-traditional students contribute greatly to our community through diversity, culture, and maturity, CUA's School of Engineering encourages interested students to contact us directly for more information.

Through formal agreements with universities and colleges domestic and abroad, we have three types of articulation agreements for transfer students. These include articulation agreements with community colleges, 3-2 agreements with Catholic liberal arts colleges, and 2+2 agreements with international universities.

Information for Transfer Students from Community Colleges

Engineering has partnered with pre-engineering programs at Anne Arundel Community College (Arnold, MD), Howard Community College (Columbia, MD), and Prince George's Community College (Largo, MD) to develop articulation agreements to makes it easier for students to transfer to CUA. Following these agreements which describe course equivalencies between CUA and our partners, students will be able to directly meet requirements of CUA's engineering programs upon completion of 2-year pre-engineering requirements at our partnering community colleges.

Links to specific articulation agreements for each community college are below:

Additional articulation agreements with other community colleges are currently in finalization stages.

To facilitate the transition to CUA, prospective students are encouraged to contact CUA engineering departments to which they plan to transfer and discuss the program with the respective chairpersons.

Information for 3-2 Dual Degree Articulations with Liberal Arts Colleges

Over the years, CUA's engineering school has collaborated with several Catholic liberal arts colleges and universities to provide dual degree options for students. CUA has existing articulations with St. Anselm's College (Manchester, NH), St. Vincent College (Latrobe, PA), and Mount St. Mary College (Newburgh, NY). Students from these partnering colleges usually complete their first three years at their home institutions fulfilling the requirements for their math/science degrees and then transfer to CUA for the final two years of study for their engineering studies. After completion of the 5-year program, students receive two bachelor's degrees, a bachelor's of science degree from their home institution and a bachelor's of engineering degree from CUA.

To find more about this program, students should contact representatives from their home institution or for general information, send EMAIL to

Information for 2-plus-2 Articulations with International Institutions

Recently, CUA engineering has strategically expanded our collaborations with several universities in Asia. These opportunities provide existing CUA engineering students with a global perspective by sending them to study abroad as well as bringing international students to CUA through 2+2 articulation agreements. Currently, CUA has transfer articulations with several universities in Vietnam, Taiwan, China, and India. These include:
