Biography
Binh Tran's research and academic interests pertain to the areas of cardiac and pulmonary mechanics, biomedical instrumentation, biomedical imaging, home care technologies, telehealth/telemedicine, and applications of virtual reality in health care. He is the director of the Cardio-Pulmonary Research Lab and the HomeCare & Telerehabilitation Technology Center. The focus of these laboratories is to develop innovative solutions for delivery of health care services at a distance to people with disabilities and those living with chronic illnesses. Projects include development and integration of sensor, telecommunications, computer and information technologies for support of underserved populations. Dr. Tran is the recipient of the 2000-2001 Mamie Doud Eisenhower Memorial Award and the 2001-2002 Women's Board Award for cardiac research by the Women's Board of the National Capitol Area Council (Washington DC).
