Biography
Dr. Simari joined the faculty at The Catholic University of America as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in the fall of 2013. He received his Licentiate degree in Computer Science from the Universidad Nacional del Sur in Bahia Blanca, Argentina in 2001, and his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of Toronto in 2004 and 2009 respectively. Between 2008 and 2010, he worked at Johns Hopkins University as a visiting scholar and postdoctoral fellow. During 2011 and early 2012 he held research scientist position with Autodesk Research, after which he joined the faculty at the University of Maryland, College Park as a research associate until late 2013. His research interests are in geometry processing, especially in the computational understanding of shape, with applications to Computer Graphics and Health.
