Assistant Professor Position Available: The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. - The Department of Civil Engineering is inviting applications for a tenure track position to begin September 1, 2008. Qualifications include an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering, a Ph.D. in (Civil) Engineering, and a Professional Engineer license or qualifications to become licensed. The area of interest is environmental engineering with special interest in water resources, water treatment, fate and transport of pollutants in ground and surface water, and environmental modeling. The position is expected to be filled at the Assistant Professor level. The successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and perform research within his/her specialty and to contribute to the general civil engineering program.

 

The Catholic University of America is a private university located in the NE sector of Washington, D.C. The School of Engineering has Departments of Biomedical, Civil, Electrical and Computer Science, and Mechanical Engineering. The School also has a separate program in Engineering Management. Our Washington, D.C. location offers some of the National best opportunities for on-the-job training and internships at agencies and industries.  The National capital is the center of an engineering research complex that includes the National Institute of Standards and Technology, the National Institute of Health, the Naval Research Laboratory, and NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. Washington is also headquarters for many large civil engineering design and construction firms.

Post-Doctoral Research Fellows/Visiting Scholars: The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. - The Department of Civil Engineering is inviting applications for five post-doctoral research fellow and visiting scholar positions in the area of (1) structural random vibration and finite element analysis; (2) statistical analysis and Bayesian inference; (3) data mining and pattern recognition; (4) statistical signal and image processing; (5) traffic flow theory and simulation, to begin on September 1, 2007.
