Objective: To deliver a final report outlining the results of the
design project. This report should be of professional quality which could
be handed to an executive of a corporation for potential funding.
Content: Your written report should be formatted according to the
following guidelines:
Format: The written report should be neatly typed, double-spaced.
Equations, if inserted, should be done using word-processing software. Any
graphics should be machine-generated, preferably in the text, but may be taped
in or appended, if necessary.
Additional Comments: Your final written report should be written as if
you are going to submit it to a company for funding. Thus it needs to be
clear, concise, detailed, and professional. Certainly you want to give the
impression that you've thought about the design from all aspects and your final
design choice is one optimal solution for the reasons you outline. Remember, it's their money
and they want to be sure that you've thought things through and have
come up with an excellent design.
The above list of content is merely a suggestion to your teams. Obviously you've thought about all aspects of the design and may want to include more. If you think it is relevant, feel free to add additional sections. Just be sure you aren't too detailed with nitty gritty details, those are left for your design notebooks.
