BE 497 Senior Design
Final Presentation
Objective:
To present your senior design projects, outlining all
aspects of the design process.
Content: The format of your oral presentation is ultimately up to
each team, however below is a list of topics which the graders will be looking
for:
- Title, design team members, advisors, date
- Problem statement including description of what the device needs to
accomplish
- Background information such as existing designs and their limitations,
design constraints (e.g. safety, cost, etc.)
- Preliminary design ideas, discussing the pros and cons of each
- Final design selection, and why it was chosen
- Description of your design, including pictures and discussion of how it
addresses design constraints (including ethical considerations such as it's
safety in human use)
- Cost and manufacturability
- Demonstration of you device
- Future modifications
- Conclusions
- Acknowledgements
Format: Your presentation should be written in Powerpoint
with drawings and figures embedded into the slide show (see
Presentation Tips for some Do's and Don'ts of
presenting). The talk should last approximately 30 minutes,
including time for demonstrations of your device. Questions will follow
your talk.
Additional Comments: Your final oral presentation is a chance for
you and your team to show off all your hard work. It should mirror your
written reports, only in a condensed manner. Remember, these projects
are supposed to be of professional quality, so treat your talk as if you are
pitching your design to the CEO of a large medical corporation (Hint: there may
be representatives from industries evaluating your projects!).
