Program Information

Engineers design, manufacture and build the complex systems that society uses; systems as diverse as the space shuttle and the interstate highway system. Engineers also play key roles in protecting the environment by designing and constructing pollution prevention systems and developing new medical technology.

The Eye on Engineering & Computer Science program at The Catholic University of America offers students a close-up look at the diverse and in-demand fields of engineering. Eye on Engineering and Computer Science also demonstrates how an undergraduate engineering education can provide a solid foundation for graduate studies in business, law or medicine. Students are selected on the basis of high academic achievement in science and mathematics. The program demonstrates what professional engineers do and how they are educated, and helps participants decide if their future is in engineering.

Eye on Engineering & Computer Science will be held June 25 - June 30, 2006 at the university's Washington, D.C. campus.

The program is supported by Mr. Jose Yglesias, who received a CUA degree in electrical engineering in 1951. The schedule includes educational, experimental, recreational and social components, all of which are designed to heighten the participants' expectations for exciting college experiences in an engineering major and in a career as a professional engineer.
